Dog Swim 2018

The Dog Swim sponsored by Friendly Paws Pet Supplies & Grooming and the Athens City Pool is always a fun time and this year it benefits the Athens County Humane Society‘s low cost spay/neuter clinics. Bring your dogs of any size to romp and play and swim. Sun, Fun and Dogs – you can’t have a better day than that!

$5 per dog to enter; larger donations are welcome : )

This year there will be a zero point entry, a section for small dogs only and splash pad fun – bring your cameras!

New guidelines – PLEASE brush your dog prior to coming to the event. Brushing stations will also be set up outside the pool but your dogs will likely not want to stand still for a brushing session. The new pool filtration system is more involved than in the past, please help us be invited back by brushing and also rinsing your dog by the pool prior to them entering the water. Dogs should also be rinsed before leaving the event, as some chlorine will be in the water, although at low levels which are considered safe.

The City of Athens requires that dogs be current with vaccinations and paperwork should be shown at the entrance. Core vaccinations as set forth by AAHA (Distemper Virus, Parvovirus, parainfluenza, Adenovirus-2 – the 5-in-1 vaccination) must have been received within the past three years. Puppy boosters must be up-to-date and is set at every 4 wks until 16wks old and a booster at 1 year of age. Rabies must also be given within the past 3 years for adult dogs and within the year for dogs under 2 years old. Bordetella should have been given in the past year.

Tennis balls will be supplied. If you bring a toy, it is at your own risk.

Humans are NOT allowed in the water, including the zero entry area due to concerns set forth by the Department of Health.

Please do not force dogs into the water. If they are scared, just let them run around and have fun. Forcing tentative dogs into the pool will not be allowed.

Children must be supervised closely and are not allowed on diving boards, slides or in the water at any time.

Please leave aggressive dogs at home for everyone’s safety.

Dogs in heat are not permitted at the event.

THANK YOU TO ATHENS PARKS & RECREATION FOR ALLOWING THE DOGS TO HAVE SOME FUN AND RAISE MONEY FOR A GOOD CAUSE.
