Michelle then worked as a trainer and adoption counselor at Washington Area Humane Society, primarily helping previously deemed “aggressive” dogs become adoptable. During that time she began training other animals including completing parrot training classes at the National Aviary. Michelle completed college level courses in Animal behavior at Unity College of Maine, has studied with Sophia Yin and completed Pet First Aid & CPR. Michelle is in the masters program at Ohio University studying the behavioral ecology of wild birds, and plans to go on to get her PhD in animal behavior.

Get your puppy socialized and ask all the questions you want to know. Puppy classes are a combination of socializing and getting down the basics of training and creating a relationship with each other. Start off with puppy play time, to get that invaluable interaction puppies need in order to be comfortable around other dogs. Then its down to business. We will lay the foundation of training by teaching your new puppy his or her name, starting to come when called, focus/eye contact, and learn what “Good dog!” means. We then move into some basics, such as sit, down, stay, and behaving on the leash.
Adult Basic Class
Lay a better groundwork for a deeper, more understanding relationship with your canine companion. A cover-all-the-bases class where we review the fundamentals of positive reinforcement, then use these principles to shape good behaviors. We will cover sit, stay, down, come, focus, walking loose leash and walking with distractions. Whether you have a young rambunctious ball of energy or an older dog who needs to brush up on manners, the is a good class to solidify the basic skill you need for all training.
Next Classes Begin June 19th, 2017 and run for 4 weeks.
