Friends of the Shelter Dog’s mission is to stop adoptable dogs from being euthanized simply because there is no room at the Athens County Dog Shelter (run by the county). They only pull dogs from the county shelter, they do not take pets from the general public. FOSD works with rescue organizations to move dogs to states where dogs are more likely to be adopted. The rescues vet the dogs and find them suitable homes. Donations of Frontline Plus, Advantix, WormerX, heartworm preventative, as well as leashes and collars are much needed. Financial support enables FOSD to treat shelter dogs who have heartworm or other illnesses. FOSD is always in need of short and long term foster support.
